S-cripture:

Psalm 41:1

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.

O-bservation:

Out of his own personal experience, King David writes that if a person will show mercy, love, and kindness to those who are weak and disenfranchised, God in turn will help them when THEY are in trouble. This is another Biblical principle that illustrates “The Law of The Harvest.”

A-pplication:

How many times have you seen a “Bully” be rude, unkind, or abusive to someone who is weak in comparison to them? I was raised by a Father who had this verse memorized. It was unfathomable in our home to take advantage of someone who was struggling. My Father was always the champion of the underdog, or “The Weak!” When King David said to have a special regard for the weak, he wasn’t just saying it’s the right thing to do (which it is), he was also saying there is a heavenly reward granted to those who will live by this command. When David became King he asked, “Is there anyone in the household of Jonathon (King Saul’s deceased son and David’s best friend) who I can show kindness to?” The answer was yes. Jonathon’s son, Mephibosheth, had a lame leg and was living in hiding. David called for the young man and had him eat at his table for the rest of his life. That’s the kind of King David was. And God always, in time, delivered David from his troubles. In the future, when a kind and generous person faces their own trouble, as King David said, “God will deliver them from that trouble.” That’s why we must … “Regard The Weak.”

Dear Jesus,

Thank You this AM that You have always helped me in my time of trouble. Thank You for giving me an earthly Father who always “Regarded the Weak.” Because of that, I had a firsthand account of how this principle looks in real life! Amen
