It’s Easy To Forget

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Judges 2:10

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.

O-bservation:

Joshua died at the age of 110. Not only had Joshua died, but his entire generation died along with him. In time, another whole generation of Israelites grew up not really knowing or seeing what God had done for Israel. Consequently, in time, the people of Israel forgot the Lord altogether.

A-pplication:

Revival is all about getting reacquainted with one’s Creator. The reason Revival is necessary is because, “It’s Easy To Forget” Who got us here to begin with. After the death of Joshua, Israel began to wander. They forgot the Creator who had been the One responsible for their success and prosperity. Somehow, they had grown to believe that they themselves had made it all happen. They needed a Revival. In time, God anointed Judges who would lead Israel. Under many of these Judges, Revival happened. As I look back on my life, I can remember my father always talking about the need for each of us to experience a personal Revival. If we’re not careful as “Followers Of Jesus,” our faith can turn into nothing more than a continual list of religious rituals. That’s exactly what Jesus came to abolish. Our great God is all about relationship! In fact, our God wants to intimately know us! Maybe you find yourself yawning through this short Devo, as if to say, “Revival, Why?” But really … “It’s Easy To Forget” the One who made all of this happen for us. It’s time to REACQUAINT ourselves with Jesus. I need a Revival.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

As I read the passage this AM, I was immediately convicted of the fact that I don’t want to take this life for granted. I was convicted that maybe I’ve been going through the motions! I don’t want that! I really want You! I’m asking this AM for a Revival. Amen
