Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Joshua 3:5
Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
O-bservation:
Moses had died and God established Joshua as the new leader of Israel. Joshua sent two spies into Jericho to infiltrate the territory. They were hidden by the prostitute Rahab so they could accomplish their mission. Upon their return, Joshua prepared to enter Jericho and finally take hold of the “Promised Land.” Joshua ordered the priests who would be carrying the “Ark of the Covenant” to take their place, and then said, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
A-pplication:
Throughout the Torah, there are different examples of religious activities the Israelites were commanded to do for personal CONSECRATION before the Lord. It had to do with preparation for the miracle working power of God to happen among them. Because of Jesus, Religion is no longer our goal. Jesus is our goal. However, there is still a need to humble ourselves before the Lord in preparation for His mighty works among us. The next day, the Israelites watched as the Jordon River split before their very eyes, and they moved toward their “Promised Land” after forty years of wandering in the wilderness. Perhaps you have felt distant from the Lord recently. Today, I feel led to say to you: Whatever you have to do in order to draw near to Jesus, do it now. Let other things slip away and determine through prayer and seeking the Lord that you will draw near to Him. You may be wondering why? I just feel it this AM … “Get Ready For Something Big!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
So often in my life, I’ve tried through efforts of my own to make things happen. Today, I desire to step back from my effort and worry and lean in to You! I want to draw close to You, Jesus! I’m ready for something BIG! Amen
