Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 40:17
But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay.
O-bservation:
King David’s personal offering to the building of the temple of the Lord by his son Solomon was valued at just under a billion dollars! That kind of wealth in that day was unimaginable. What is even more unimaginable is to read this passage and hear David say, “I am poor and needy!” And yet there truly is pathos and sorrow in this verse that speaks of something much more than money that was lacking in David’s life.
A-pplication:
Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you didn’t need anything, but felt like you didn’t have what you needed? Maybe your bills were paid, there was money in the bank and a beautiful roof over your head, but you weren’t sure if you could make it another day? Well if your answer is YES to either of these questions, you’ve been where David was in this passage. He had everything money could buy and more, but he felt like he was bankrupt of what he needed MOST. He was crying out for Jesus to fill the void of spiritual bankruptcy in his life. What you and I need most is not more stuff, we need MORE Jesus. I’ve seen people both wealthy and not who were truly, completely happy. They were people FILLED UP with Jesus. Wealth can’t make you happy and Lack can’t make you sad if you’re FULL of Jesus. David simply asked the Lord to THINK of him. Remember today that Jesus is your Help, your Deliverer, and your God.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
There’s “That Place That Only Jesus Can Fill” that is crying for You this AM. I acknowledge that You are my Help, my Deliverer, and my God! Come fill me this AM, my Lord. Amen
