S-cripture:
Haggai 2:9
The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house says the Lord Almighty. And in this place I will grant peace, declares the Lord Almighty.
O-bservation:
Here the Prophet Haggai talks about the glory of the temple that Zerubbabel was building, and that it was greater than the glory of Solomon’s temple. Nebuchadnezzar had knocked that beautiful edifice unto the Lord down and burned it. The Prophet also reported that the word of the Lord included peace in the coming “latter house.”
A-pplication:
Actually there was not a chance that Zerubbabel could possibly rebuild Solomon’s former temple with the same expensive specifications, because there was just not that kind of money designated for the building of it. But God said I’m going to grant peace in the new place. That’s the key in time. So the temple was knocked down during the Maccabean revolt and was rebuilt under “Herod the Great” and expanded. And it was in this temple that Jesus “The Prince of Peace” stood and preached. Maybe I’m interpreting this wrong today, but here’s how I see it. Temples made with brick-and-mortar have a tendency to get knocked down a lot. So do people. However, the Bible says we are Temples built to house the Presence of Jesus. When we get knocked down and we need the “Prince of Peace” to come and help us get back up and keep going, HE is our PEACE. So if you don’t know heaven’s deal, here it is … “You’ve got a temple (That would be YOU). Now Get Your Peace!” And when you do something greater than you’ve ever done before, something greater than you ever know will come to pass.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’ve got some stuff in my temple today. What I’m really praying for is a move of You in my own spirit. Amen
