You Choose

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 18:14b
For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

O-bservation:

These are the words of Jesus and I won’t take the time this AM to give you the context of this passage but just to say that this scripture was one of Jesus’ core values. That’s true I believe, because of the words of St Peter Jesus’ beloved disciple. Peter said, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” (1 Peter 5:6)

A-pplication:

In both of these bible verses Jesus placed the end result squarely in our laps and is basically saying, “You Choose!” In other words the law of the harvest is set firmly by God, yet we still have a personal decision that determines the outcome. If we choose to exalt ourselves we will be brought down or humbled. If we choose to humble ourselves, we will be exalted. God is not making you choose one or the other, because the conditions have already been established. So what will it be today? Choosing the way of the arrogant through self-promotion, or choosing the way of the humble by way of serving others? “You Choose!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,
This choice for me comes to me I think maybe ten times a day. Through the years you have helped me to choose the way of the humble. There have been times when I haven’t and my harvest was just awful. I’m so glad I’ve learned my lesson. Thank you Jesus, Amen
