Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 9:11

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

O-bservation:

When Jesus called Matthew, the writer of this book, to “Follow Him,” Matthew took Jesus to his house and had a party. The Pharisees were upset and asked Jesus’ disciples how in the world Jesus could hang out with sinners.

A-pplication:

Jesus overheard the question and said to the religious, law-abiding Pharisees, “It’s sick people who need a doctor.” Jesus told them He hadn’t come to call righteous people, but sinners. How is it that even today, if we’re not careful, we the CHURCH can become somewhat of a private club. Think about it, we have our own membership apparatus, club songs, rules, and so on. If you look at the the New Testament requirement for salvation, it is simply BELIEVE IN JESUS. That’s been my personal message to SINNERS my whole life. “Believe in Jesus and keep coming on this journey with us! Jesus will lead you.” If anyone ever asks me why I hang with sinners, I simply say “Why Not?” Someone hung with me. Thank God they did!

Dear Jesus,

I’m heading out this AM to do what You taught me. Hang with sinners! Since that’s what I am, saved by grace, I’ll feel right at home. Amen
