Depression Can Be Tricky

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Matthew 11:3b

“Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

While in Herod’s Prison, John the Baptist undoubtedly had become disillusioned and depressed. He had his own disciples go and asked Jesus the question, “Are you really the Messiah, or should we continue looking?”

Can you imagine this cousin and forerunner of Christ asking such a question? Here was the very one God had ordained to prepare the way of the Lord. John knew his role. He was the one who baptized Jesus. He was the one who said “HE (speaking of Jesus) must increase and I must decrease.” But “Depression Can Be Tricky.” He had lived in the fields and open places, yet more recently John had been relegated to four walls, one of which had bars on it. The days were long and the nights longer. In time, he forgot who he was and who his cousin is. Whatever challenges you and I shall face in the coming days, let this one word stick. Keep your eyes and heart fixed on Jesus. He really is the one we’ve been looking for.

Dear Jesus,

Thank You that in You I’ve found what I’ve been looking for. Amen
