What’s In A Name?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 20:9a

But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt.

O-bservation:

Through His Prophet, Ezekiel, the Lord reminds us that it was for the sake of His righteous name that He brought His Beloved out of Egypt, even though their hearts seemed to be perpetually selfish.

A-pplication:

Growing up in my father’s home, I was constantly reminded that it was better to have a good name than great wealth. Somebody said, “I’d like to have both!” No seriously, Dad schooled us in being children people could trust. In this passage our Heavenly Father was and is so concerned for His righteous reputation that He was willing to get His people out of Egypt even though they would continuously disappoint Him with their idolatry. You may ask, “What’s In A Name?” Jesus was willing to die in order to keep His Father’s name above reproach. That’s what it meant to Heaven. May a good name be our pursuit so that our lives can vouch for heaven’s integrity.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I want to be like You. With Your help, may I live so that my life is always a testimony of Your goodness to me. Amen
