Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Judges 2:10

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.

O-bservation:

Here the writer of the book of Judges says that after the death of Joshua and his generation of people, the new generation of Israelites knew nothing of God, or what He had done for them!

A-pplication:

My first response every time I read this passage is … “Whaaat???” To think that after Ai, Joshua never lost another battle. To think that God provided all of those miracles for he and his countrymen. To think that this great man left no indication of who God is or what He had done for them is absolutely preposterous. But here we see that the generation immediately following Joshua’s generation had no knowledge of God or what He had done for them. You’re probably thinking “Whaaat???” Exactly!! To think that somehow this great man was not able to mentor one person under his leadership who would take the torch of spiritual leadership to the next generation is reprehensible. If we’re not passing the Good News to the next generation, it only says that we are consumed with ourselves. May no one look back on your life and mine and say … “Whaaat???”

Dear Jesus,

Please, please, please help me pass this “Good News” down to those of the next generation! Amen
