The Vain RUSH

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 39:6

Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be.

O-bservation:

King David reported on what to him was a “Vain Rush,” featuring people who just couldn’t stop hoarding wealth. He said they did this while not even knowing whose hands their wealth would eventually fall into.

A-pplication:

I just love this observation by David. No one in Israel was wealthier than him, yet he called his own people out for “The Vain RUSH” for wealth. Certainly he was spot on in his assessment. To watch people today chase wealth and hoard wealth and somehow think they will keep wealth without at least passing it on is … well, it’s just history repeating itself. You’d think that we could learn from past mistakes, but even with history on our side we still operate as though we’re the first generation on planet earth. God save us from “The Vain RUSH” for wealth.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I ask that You would help me appreciate money, but not pursue it for Vain Purposes.  May friends see my real pursuit is YOU! Amen
