We Go One … We Go All

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 12:26

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

O-bservation:

This twelfth chapter of 1 Corinthians bears Paul’s teaching on spiritual gifts. He promotes the fact that every “Follower of Jesus” has a gift or purpose to fulfill within the “Body of Christ” (Church). This teaching insists that we can’t operate without each other. The Apostle uses the metaphor of the different parts of our physical body that work in sync with each other to accomplish our daily routine. And that same fluid activity must be the desire of every member of the “Bride of Christ” (Church). We rejoice when one of us wins, and we sorrow when one of us suffers. In other words, we must live with our theme being “We Go One … We Go All.”

A-pplication:

All of us have had “Body Parts” fail us. It is painful in some cases and embarrassing in others. But when every “Body Part” is functioning to its capacity … we each believe … “Nothing can stop me!” It is easy to observe the same in local churches. Some are THRIVING! That means they applaud each other’s WINS, and they weep with each other’s losses. On the other hand, you see churches that are in pain. They have forgotten the theme. Instead they applaud when someone else loses and weep when someone else rejoices. May it be your prayer and mine today that regardless of what others may do, we will say … “We Go One … We Go All!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me today to be a “Great Team Player” as a member of Your church. With Your help, I will rejoice when others win and I will sorrow when others suffer. Amen
