Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
King David had been going on and on about the prosperity of the wicked. He said they have no struggles. They have tremendous good health, and they wear pride like a necklace. David continued to write like this in this chapter until he finally came to his senses and understood that it is God Almighty who lovingly cares for us and all of our needs while here on earth and eventually takes us to heaven.
I’m like David in this chapter. If I’m not careful, I start looking at the next guy and all he has. He may be a terrible person to his family and business associates, but I take none of that into consideration. Instead, I think to myself how great he has it. Listen now to what I’m going to say this AM. Get your eyes off of people and on Jesus. The writer of Hebrews said, “Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Heb 12:2). Why? Because men and women will fail you. The more we look at those around us, the more our gaze is fixed on temporary things. People and their physical lives here on earth are temporary. Everything they’ve accumulated will come to nothing in time. King David finally got his eyes off of people in this chapter and back onto the Lord. When he did, he was reminded that not only would the Lord take care of him in this life, but in time would usher him into heaven safely. When you and I look at our future as did David, the truth is, “We Can’t Lose!”
I’m so grateful this AM to You for taking such amazing care of me in this life. Even though I’m a bit scared when I think of leaving this world to join You for eternity in heaven, I am confident You have already prepared a place for me. And because of it, I know “I Just Can’t Lose!” Amen
