Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Hebrews 11:38a
The world was not worthy of them.
O-bservation:
The writer lists a group of people in biblical history who have been labeled as members of … “The Hall of FAITH.” After going through a brief history of a number of those “HEROES of FAITH” he says, “The world was not worthy of them.”
A-pplication:
Too often journalists and editorialists, radio show hosts and TV news anchormen produce daily information that sounds a whole lot like that of yesterday and the day before and the month and year before that. Bad news in the form of thieves, villains, murderers, terrorists, rapists, and other forms of debauchery are promoted each day to a national audience drunk on filth. And then there are those who, by faith, move forward to live against the tide, rise above the waves, and soar higher than the storm. For all of this, they are the unknown and unsung heroes of a “Lost Society.” More often than not, if they ARE discovered they are laughed at, ridiculed, and mocked as “Do-Gooders.” Even so, they “Press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called them” (Phil. 3:14, paraphrase). We “Followers Of Jesus” are proud of them! AND … it is our desire to be numbered among them in the face of … “An Unworthy World.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I am reminded that You became a curse to a watching world as You hung on that cross. The world was unworthy of You, yet You loved us anyway. Help me love people anyway. Amen
Comment (1)
I often felt unappreciated or inworthy in my professional life but I did all good deeds for the love of God. I wanted to hear Jesus saying “Welcome home, great and faithfull servant!”
