Trouble On Loan

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

O-bservation:

This verse, spoken by Jesus, is part of his famous “Sermon On The Mount.” In this discourse Jesus describes the heart, thoughts, actions, and mission of “His Followers.” He encourages all of us not to borrow tomorrow’s trouble. Today has plenty of issues that each one of us must deal with. Tomorrow and all of the potential messes it has to offer will take care of itself.

A-pplication:

I’ve known many folks through the years who see tomorrow and the future as … “Trouble On Loan.” Tomorrow isn’t even here yet, but they’re already thoroughly “Vested” in it. Jesus, in this passage, encourages all of us to “Live In The Moment.” In other words, MAXIMIZE today. It’s as if the Lord is saying, “Today is all you have and I am giving you grace to live it, manage it, maximize it, and conquer it.” On the other hand, if we want to jump today and get into tomorrow before tomorrow gets here, there seems to be no grace for that at all. Jesus verified what most of us already know—tomorrow will worry about itself! So you and I are much better off if we face and conquer the challenges of today. I, for one, am not looking for tomorrow’s … “Trouble On Loan.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I thank You that You have given me maximum grace to maximize today. And for that I am grateful. Amen
