S-cripture:

Ephesians 6:12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

O-bservation:

Paul wrote 13, some argue 14, books of the New Testament. He was one of the most educated authors of the entire Bible. This is an important backdrop to what he says in this passage. He’s not a religious nut, but he says that the war we’re fighting as “Believers” is not a war waged in the confines of the natural world but rather in the realm of the Spirit. It’s not against human flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers in high places. In other words … “There’s A War On Out There People.” But it’s not a war that you can engage with weapons of earthly warfare.

A-pplication:

The day for glossing over continual problems, struggles, challenges, and dreams that just happened to go sideways as … “Well you win some and you lose some” … must end! This is spiritual warfare and sometimes it’s apparent to other “Christ Followers” long before we pick up on it. Paul directs us in the next several verses to put on the full armor of God in preparation for battle. The armor includes: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. Oh, and praying in the spirit at all times! Because … “There’s A War On Out There People!”

Dear Jesus,

Help me to stop all foolishness and face the day with a resolve to fight the good fight of faith with all that is in me. Amen
