Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 88:13

But I cry to you for help, LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

O-bservation:

In this chapter, King David bemoans his very existence. Nothing is going right for him. It’s all bad, and there seems to be absolutely no hope whatsoever. The chapter ends with him proclaiming that darkness is his closest friend since God himself has taken away every friend the king ever had. However, two thirds into this depressing Psalm is a line, “In the morning my prayer comes before you.” If there ever was a ray of hope, it’s in that one line. Evidently, King David had learned “The Only Way, To Start Your Day.”

A-pplication:

What is it that has you down this AM? Some days are better than others. Certainly, you and I both have learned that. However, some days make you feel like nothing good has ever happened to you. The darkness is so thick that even on a sunny day in Miami in mid-July, it feels like darkness all day long. Not only that, but on those kinds of days I can’t remember one day that wasn’t dark. Have you ever been there? David had already built in a remedy to his occasional depressions. He had determined somewhere in life to start every day with the Lord in prayer. That is what I have endeavored to do myself. No matter how despairing life gets, there’s always hope when you begin each day with prayer unto the Lord. It really is “The Only Way To Start Your Day!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Well, it’s morning, and here I am again. No matter how discouraged I get, I’ve learned that there is fresh hope each new day for me. That’s because You always give me a reason for hope. It really is the only way to start my day. Amen
