The Gospel Is Not Always Convenient

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Acts 24:25
As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.

Paul had been taken to the beautiful seaside-city known as Caesarea, to await his sentencing for a myriad of trumpt up charges by the Jews. The governor of that region was named Felix. Oftentimes he would hear Paul’s testimony in many travels, as Paul was always testifying of the grace of the Lord Jesus. On one occasion, Paul was preaching on righteousness and self-control and the coming judgement, Felix became scared and said, “Let’s stop for now and when I find a more ‘CONVENIENT TIME,’ to hear you out, I will call for you.”

When Felix asked for a more CONVENIENT time to discuss his sinful life, he was putting the emphasis on the wrong person. He should have been grateful that God had brought him a personal witness to lead him to Jesus. Instead, he put the emphasis on himself. He said, “Paul, it’s not convenient for ‘ME’ to listen to you right now. When ‘I’ find a more CONVENIENT time, ‘I’ will call for you.” But friend, when God comes calling, we’d better make time for HIM, because “The Gospel Is Not Always Convenient!”

Dear Jesus,
Today I have lots of things that are booked, but for me. But Lord, my calendar will always be cleared for anything you want to talk to me about. Amen
