S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 20:38
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.
O-bservation:
According to Jesus, even dead humans still sustain an abiding, conscious relationship with the Lord. In this verse, Jesus is speaking in particular about those dead who will rise again because they have followed the Lord. There are no dead people to God, as strange as that may sound to we mortals, because He is “The God of The Living.”
A-pplication:
We must at all times remember that there is more to this life than this life. Because our God is “The God of The Living,” it is imperative that our every thought and our every deed is acted upon with Him in mind. At no time should we take the option to go another way than His way. We should never love a god other than the only true and wise God. We should never operate as though we can talk to Him later. No! Our God is “The God of The Living,” and so if you and I truly claim to be alive then ought we not be fully alive to His every wish? After all, He is the author of life. I’ve been around enough death, enough sickness, pain, darkness, and bad attitudes to know that I truly am alive. And even when I feel as though I’m fading in any way, HE IS NOT! For He is … “The God of The Living!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m so glad today that I do not serve money, or a piece of wood, or stone, or a dead leader of some religious persuasion, or a code. I’m happy that I serve … “The God of The Living.” Amen
