Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Jesus had just commended Peter for acknowledging His divinity, and had then said, “Your confession will be the rock that I build my church upon.” Then Jesus told the disciples He would have to die. Peter rebuked Him and said that this would never happen to Jesus. At that point, Jesus rebuked Peter as a form of Satan who would try and cause Him (Jesus) to stumble. He told Peter, “You don’t have ‘The Concerns Of God,’ you think in human terms like everyone else.”
What are “The Concerns Of God?” First of all, God’s concerns are for the whole world. His concerns would be that all humankind would come to salvation through the name of His son Jesus. I’m sure God’s concerns include each woman and each man on the face of the earth being treated with JUSTICE, including all races and creeds and colors and social strata. God’s concerns are not for Himself but others. He doesn’t put Himself first; He chooses for the highest good of His children. And lest we forget, every one of us is God’s child. So if you’ve been putting your own interests in front of others, stop for a minute and consider “The Concerns Of God.”
I know your concerns are much more than I can imagine. I’m asking that you help me lay my concerns aside and make Your concerns mine. Amen
