That Age-Old Problem

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Galatians 3:3

Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

The Church at Galatia was battling the law vs. Spirit. They were challenged to go back to religion and the works of the flesh or continue with the ministry of Grace and the fresh working of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Paul challenged them not to return to their old religious ways of Judaism. It had failed them, yet it was comfortable for them, and so the Church at Galatia was sort of the originators of what has become “That Age-Old Problem.”

Humanity has always wanted a list of rules. Of course, since the beginning of time, there was only one rule, and humans immediately broke it. Still, humankind has always wanted to know the boundaries they are supposed to live within. When Jesus came, all of that changed. Jesus added a new dimension to “The Golden Rule,” and that was that love would motivate every action and response that humans would make. It also meant that Jesus would be the initiator of that love. Alas, and I do mean alas, “The Law” kept pulling at the hearts of men and women, and it still does today. It’s not unlike the Israelis wanting to go back to Egypt after getting out of Egypt’s bondage. Why? Because bondage is what the enemy of our soul promotes twenty-four seven. Grace and the moving of the Holy Spirit is like the wild blue yonder. Whatever you do today, please stay away from “That Age-Old Problem.”

Dear Jesus,

Help me this AM stay with You and the moving of the Holy Spirit in my life. I know You want to take me to places my flesh is scared to go. But I’m happiest when I’m with You and fully trusting in Your Spirit. Amen

This is so easy in non-profit organizations that began from the heart of saint, rooted in Christ. When funding begins to come from government agencies and state rules are applied, it begins to loose some of its identity as it complies. It is so important, like in every field for a person to keep themselves grounded in Christ, and trust that He will give them wisdom and guidance. Thank you for this.
