Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Matthew 24:4
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.”
O-bservation:
Jesus was sitting on the “Mount of Olives” with His disciples, and in referencing the temple Jesus told them that its future destruction was certain. They asked Him when this would happen, and Jesus began His lengthy answer by saying, “Be careful that no one deceives you!”
A-pplication:
All of us, at one time or another, have fallen prey to the trickery of a Con-Man or Woman. Jesus was speaking here of “False Christs” who would arrive on the scene at the “End Of The Age” to try and get folks like us to buy into their deception. But in a more general sense, Jesus warns all of us to “Take Care Of Yourself!” Be on guard! It’s true that all of us who are willing to “Follow Jesus Wholeheartedly” are given AWARENESS. You could call it a “Sixth Sense.” The Bible would label it as DISCERNMENT. Discernment is the ability to detect insincerity in another person. The old adage, “Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me” works here. However, if you “Take Care Of Yourself” through personal devotion (prayer and Bible study) you don’t have to be FOOLED the First Time. Since Jesus has your back, “Take Care Of Yourself!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I thank You today that You’re watching out for me. Because You are, I know You want me to watch out for me too. Help me today to “Take Care Of Myself.” Amen
