Finding Favor With God

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

O-bservation:

Early on in the book of Genesis, the Lord regretted that He had even made man because of man's sin. In fact, the Lord destroyed the entire human race by way of a flood, save for Noah and his family. Why? Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

A-pplication:

The Bible tells us that the eyes of the Lord run throughout the whole earth to find those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. Concerning Noah, scripture says that he was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Surely the Lord's eyes were on this beloved servant. It is possible to so fully serve the Lord, so that our service literally finds the favor of God. It's not as if we love Jesus to get something, but it's true that "Finding Favor With God," is a by-product of completely yielding to His will.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Once again, this AM, let me start off by saying, "I'm Yours! Completely and forever I yield myself to Your will and way." Amen

God Made A Promise

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 8:22 As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.

O-bservation:

These were God’s words to Noah and his family and the earth's future inhabitants following the great flood. The flood killed every person and every living creature save for two of each creature that Noah fit in the ark with his family. But, God said, “I’ll never destroy the inhabitants of the earth again.” And to set the record straight, it has never happened again because “God Made A Promise.”

A-pplication:

If you are facing an extreme challenge today, I would encourage you to search Scripture to find a promise of God that applies to the situation in front of you. It could be a sickness, financial, relational, or addiction you’re facing, but I can tell you there is a promise from God for every challenge we face. Run away from the world’s negative narratives. Hold to the Lord today. The word of God tells us that “God’s promises are yes and amen to those who believe!” God made a promise to Noah and all of us who have ever lived on the face of the earth since He made it, and he’s never broken that promise. What promise do you need to embrace today? Please find it in God’s Word and hold on to it.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I love you this AM, Lord. And I must say I believe your promises to my friend and me. We will never stop believing the promises of God. We promise! Amen

God Will Never Forget You!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 8:1 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

O-bservation:

The previous verse tells us that the rain had been pouring out of the heavens, worldwide, for one hundred and fifty days! Can you imagine that kind of worldwide, torrential downpour? Consequently, the entire planet was covered with water. All of humankind had been destroyed, along with the animals, save for the animals in the Ark and Noah’s family. The scripture here says GOD REMEMBERED NOAH!

A-pplication:

To think that in my lifetime, the world’s population has exceeded seven billion people is astounding. Yet this story tells us that God, with a severe rainstorm, left the world with just one family in it. That family was Noah’s. Before the one-hundred-and-fifty-day rainstorm God sent, He had told Noah and his family, along with the animals, to go into the ark of safety. They did. Then the rains came. Worldwide havoc existed on the planet for one hundred and fifty days. You might think that one little ship battling the elements for five months would have been lost. But the scripture says GOD REMEMBERED NOAH! Noah was the only righteous man left on the earth. If your personal pursuit is for the Lord, always remember, “God Will Never Forget You!” Even if you’re somewhere on the planet in a boat all by yourself.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM, I’m reminded that there has never been one day in my life when I did not think that you had me in mind. Some people may think that’s presumptuous on my part, but YOU ARE MY GOD! You know all people and have the hairs on our head counted. Thanks for thinking of me. Amen

I Wonder What We Could Do For Jesus?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 11:6
The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”

O-bservation:

These are the words that the Lord spoke over the people who were building the Tower of Babel. They weren’t people who followed the one true God, and because of it, the Lord said anything they can imagine in their heart to do they’ll be able to do. That’s why He confused their languages. That ended the building of the Tower of Babel.

A-pplication:

Let’s just say that all of us who follow Jesus, just in this country wherever you’re reading this from, all agreed together to do something positive. “I Wonder What We Could Do For Jesus?” There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that there is power in agreement. The Bible itself says, “If two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it shall be done for them by my father in Heaven” (Matt. 18:19). So yes, there is great power in agreement. But what is the agreement for. We’ve seen men and women accomplish good things for the sake of humanity. We’ve also seen people accomplish terrible things in pursuit of perceived personal gain. But what if our goals and motives were ones of righteousness to bless humankind and please our Father in heaven? “I Wonder What We Could Do For Jesus?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m asking this AM that You would bring the right people into my life so that we can agree together to do something wonderful for You. Amen

SAFE

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 7:1
The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”

O-bservation:

Here, at the outset of the greatest flood in history, God said to Noah, “I’m going to bring you and your whole family into the ark of safety because you have followed My ways. You will not be destroyed, you will be SAFE.”

A-pplication:

Throughout history, you could never be sure of what God would do. I mean 10 of His original 12 disciples died a martyr’s death! But for the most part, God has always provided a “SAFE” place for those who walk uprightly. Men like Abraham and Moses and David are prime examples of people who walked with God, and they were promoted for their steadfastness. Women like Deborah, Bathsheba, and of course Mary the mother of Jesus all found a “SAFE” place in God’s service. Noah could not possibly have understood the carnage that was about to happen on planet earth, all at the hand of God. But he obeyed when the Lord said bring your family inside the ark, just like he had years before when the Lord told him to build it. The one component that God requires in order to be “SAFE” on this side of heaven is obedience. Each of the aforementioned folks in this post was a person of obedience. That’s why they each lived in a “SAFE” place with the Lord until they went to heaven.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I want to obey! I need the feeling that I’m “SAFE” 24 hours a day. Help me be an obedient follower in Your service. Amen
