You Need The Holy Spirit Baptism

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

O-bservation:

In John 20:22 when Jesus first appeared before his disciples following his resurrection he said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” This was the disciples salvation day. No one could be saved until Jesus had suffered through the crucifixion. So everyone who accepts Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit. But we believe this passage is speaking of a second unique work of grace in the believers life. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a second unique work of grace. This baptism enabled the disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel. That’s how the church was birthed here on earth.

A-pplication:

Never think that you have to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues as these first Christians did, in order to go to heaven. NO! That happens when you accept Jesus as your Savior. But if you want to be filled with the power of God to do exploits for the Lord you must be baptized in the Holy Spirit. I’ve always believed that any accomplishments for heaven that I’ve experienced on this side, has been because of this mighty baptism in the Holy Spirit. That’s why I believe “You Need The Holy Spirit Baptism.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This Am during this quiet moment of prayer I ask that you would baptize my friend in your precious Holy Spirit! Amen

Baptize My Heart

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 3:16 (NIV) John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

O-bservation:

In this declaration by John the Baptist, we witness his humility and anticipation of the coming Messiah. John acknowledges the limitations of his baptism and points to the One who is greater. The promise of being baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire signifies a transformation beyond mere ritual cleansing.

A-pplication:

As we begin this new day, let's reflect on the profound truth that John shares. Jesus, the one more powerful, offers us a baptism that goes beyond external cleansing – it's a baptism of the heart and spirit. How can we open ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives today? Let's seek a deeper connection with Jesus, inviting His transformative power into every aspect of our being.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, help me relinquish control and allow Your Spirit to work in me as You Baptize My Heart. Amen.

The Advocate

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 16:7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

O-bservation:

Here Jesus, our Lord, introduces “The Advocate.” He of course was speaking of the precious Holy Spirit. He said, “If I go I will send Him to you.” We know that within days of Jesus ascending into heaven the Holy Spirit came down on the Believers in the upper room on the Day Of Pentecost. Surely Jesus kept His promise.

A-pplication:

When The Lord said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb. 13:5-6), obviously it is through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit that this promise is fulfilled. Certainly our great God is omnipresent, and He is so by the personhood of “The Advocate.” Whenever you feel the presence of Jesus, that’s “The Advocate” you’re sensing. When you have questions in prayer and hear a still, small answer, that’s “The Advocate.” Whenever you’ve experienced heartbreak of any kind and suddenly there’s a comforting shoulder to lean on and you can’t detect who it is, I’m telling you that’s “The Advocate.” So you see, no Believer is happy that Jesus left, but if He hadn’t “The Advocate” would not have come. Thank God for “The Advocate.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I’m grateful Jesus that You sent “The Advocate.” Through my life I’ve experienced His power at least a thousand times. Thank You! Amen

The Origin Of Prophecy

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Peter 1:21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

O-bservation:

The Apostle Peter made it very clear concerning “The Origin of Prophecy.” He said that humans didn’t make prophetic utterances up; rather, the words were given to them by God, and the Holy Spirit strengthened them to give them.

A-pplication:

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that humans aren’t involved in the gifts of the Spirit. The fact is, we are God’s vessels to deliver the gifts to His people. But He is the one orchestrating the content. There is the possibility of fabricating these gifts. That is a real concern. However, phonies are always discovered in time. The normal workings of the gift of Prophecy or any other gift originates in heaven. God gives the words, the Holy Spirit empowers His vessel (i.e. you and me), and the gift is presented to one or more people. If you’ve ever wondered, that comprises “The Origin Of Prophecy.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I’m so happy that You are the originator of all the Gifts of The Spirit. Today it is my desire to be used as Your vessel. Amen

The REBEL Who Sought Convenience

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 24:25 As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.”

O-bservation:

Felix was the Governor of the region which housed Caesarea by the sea. Herod’s palace was there and St. Paul was being kept there under armed guard. When he finally was allowed to defend himself before Felix, the governor became so convicted in his spirit that he told Paul to come back at a more “Convenient” time.

A-pplication:

Whenever the Holy Spirit begins to convict people of their sin, hard-core rebels always look for a more “Convenient Time” to entertain such conviction. Why is that? Some believe this life is all there is and so it’s important to get all you can, while you’re here, by any means. When the idea of eternity is introduced into the discussion, “Convenience” is now pursued. In the end, Felix “The Rebel Who Sought CONVENIENCE” always found a way to find it. But he never found eternal life.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I left my rebellious ways long ago and never, from that point on, sought a life of convenience. Thankfully I found eternal life instead! Amen
