Jesus Is Our Encourager

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Thessalonians 2:16,17 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

O-bservation:

This was Paul’s second letter to the young church he planted at Thessalonica, and it was filled with encouragement. He said that Jesus had been his greatest encourager and that he was now praying and prophesying over them that they would experience the same encouragement from Jesus that he himself had known.

A-pplication:

I can't tell you how many times I have been let down by a friend or close associate who I thought would give me a word of encouragement. Has that ever happened to you? Perhaps you've gone the extra mile at work or in someone's behalf. Instead of blessing you with a kind word of encouragement, they say something that causes you to believe they're questioning your motives. Instead of leaving blessed, you feel discouraged. I know, I’ve been there. However, when everyone else lets you down ... "Jesus Is Our Encourager!" And He's always there. He's not our encourager just for today, or a given special event, he's there ALL THE TIME! King David said, "But You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high" (Ps. 3:3). "Jesus Is Our Encourager!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm thankful that when everyone else walks out ... You stay right beside me! You really are "My Encourager!" I'm Blessed. Amen

Happy Dad, Happy Family

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 7:40a All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders.

O-bservation:

The Prophet Ezra is the writer of this book, and in recounting the Tribe of Asher he lists 4 qualities that the world is looking for in men today. The qualities of the "Men of Asher" were as follows: Patriarchal, the Best of the Best, Brave Warriors, and Outstanding Leaders.

A-pplication:

How does a family turn out so well? We know that Asher was the 8th son of Jacob, somewhere around 1920 (something) BC. We know Ezra wrote the first book of the Chronicles around 450 (something) BC. The name "Asher" means "HAPPY." We don't know why Jacob named his 8th son "HAPPY," after all he was the child of one of Jacob’s wives' handmaidens, Zilpah. But when he was born his Father said, “I'll name him ‘HAPPY!’" I know this ... good things come to HAPPY people. Just before Jacob died, he blessed his son Asher and said that he would be blessed with abundance and food befitting a King. Just before Moses died, he said that the tribe of Asher would be blessed with Prosperity. It's obvious that this man in history lived "HAPPY," and that way of approaching life produced men the world still longs for today! Here's the moral of the story ... "Happy DAD, Happy Family!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You that You give all who ask You, the "Joy of the Lord." Thank You today that You gave me a "Happy Family." Amen

Principles Of WINNING

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Samuel 8:6b The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.

O-bservation:

This is an unequivocal statement. David didn't win occasionally or every other time. No! In this passage, he was on a terror and won everywhere he went. Certainly one must ask, what are the "Principles Of WINNING?"

A-pplication:

There's little doubt that David and his men were schooled in the art of war. From the time he had slung a stone and hit Goliath squarely in the forehead, he had studied and practiced war at every level. But many men and women have done this only to end up losing badly. In the fifteenth verse of this chapter the writer says that David ruled Israel, doing justly and rightly by ALL of his people. Certainly there have been leaders who were fair and right or right or just fair for some of their people. But how many leaders in history have done justly (fair) and righteously for ALL of their people. Yes, it was God who made him win everywhere, but there are also David's "Principles Of WINNING" that compelled God to make it happen.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I need Your help this AM. Help me lead ALL of the folks You have placed in my care with Justice and Righteousness. Amen

A More Honorable Man

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 4:9a Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.

O-bservation:

The writer makes it clear in this passage that this man named Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.

A-pplication:

Jabez was only remembered by a prayer he prayed. It's in the prayer he prayed that his honor is revealed. He prayed to the Lord first of all that God would truly bless him. He wasn't looking for man's approval or applause; he was desperate for God's blessing. Second, he wanted increased influenced with people. That can only happen with the anointing of the Lord on our lives. And third, he asked that the Lord would stay close to him. So the revelation of honor in Jabez's life stems from the fact that he wanted the blessing, the anointing, and the presence of God with him at all times. Those are the desires of "A More Honorable Man." I don't believe any of us should desire to be more honorable than the next person, but rather we should desire to be BLESSED by, be ANOINTED by, and know the PRESENCE of the same God Jabez prayed to.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm not asking to be "A More Honorable Man" than those around me. I just want to be "More Honorable" than I have been. Amen

He Blessed Who God Blessed

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 25:5
Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.

O-bservation:

The scripture says that before Abraham died, he left everything he had to his son Isaac. Now we know that he blessed his other sons as well (vs. 6), but his total inheritance went to the son God had chosen to bless, and that was the only son, the miracle son whose mother was Sarah. His name was Isaac.

A-pplication:

Throughout my life, I’ve watched people make big mistakes and then do everything they possibly could to try and make the mistake work throughout the course of their life. It seldom ever does. What usually happens is they lose the momentum they once had for a given skill or profession trying to work on their mistake. Abraham didn’t do that. Is that to say that he didn’t love his other offspring? NO! What it says is that he knew from the beginning that the promised miracle boy would come through Sarah. But he bought into her fear that she would not be able to conceive, and when he did, Ismael arrived. He loved Ismael, but when his miracle son Isaac was born, he banked on him from there on out. He knew who God had chosen to bless. Years before, he’d sent Ismael away with his mother, and God took care of Abraham’s mistake. Abraham learned a huge lesson. In the end, “He Blessed Who God Blessed.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM, help me always remember to bless who You have blessed. I don’t want to spend time on things that distract me from staying on point. Amen
