Jesus Is Our Encourager

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Thessalonians 2:16,17 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

O-bservation:

This was Paul’s second letter to the young church he planted at Thessalonica, and it was filled with encouragement. He said that Jesus had been his greatest encourager and that he was now praying and prophesying over them that they would experience the same encouragement from Jesus that he himself had known.

A-pplication:

I can't tell you how many times I have been let down by a friend or close associate who I thought would give me a word of encouragement. Has that ever happened to you? Perhaps you've gone the extra mile at work or in someone's behalf. Instead of blessing you with a kind word of encouragement, they say something that causes you to believe they're questioning your motives. Instead of leaving blessed, you feel discouraged. I know, I’ve been there. However, when everyone else lets you down ... "Jesus Is Our Encourager!" And He's always there. He's not our encourager just for today, or a given special event, he's there ALL THE TIME! King David said, "But You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high" (Ps. 3:3). "Jesus Is Our Encourager!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm thankful that when everyone else walks out ... You stay right beside me! You really are "My Encourager!" I'm Blessed. Amen

Grace And Peace

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Thessalonians 1:2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

O-bservation:

When Paul opened up his second letter to the church at Thessalonica, he did so by declaring "Grace And Peace" over them.

A-pplication:

Think about it this AM. In this time of turbulence around the world and constant concerns for one’s family, finances, and future, what better declaration could you and I hear? I'll speak as though it was the Apostle Paul talking to you. "I know you have concerns, some of which perhaps keep you up at night. Here's what I want to declare over your life today: "Grace And Peace from our Lord and Savior Jesus. His Grace is favor that we don't deserve, and in time you won't even believe. Also His Peace will cause you to walk calmly through your toughest challenge." I'd say that's a pretty good start to our day.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You for Your "Grace And Peace," which You promise over me again today. Amen

Please Don’t Get Tired Of Doing Good

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Thessalonians 3:13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

O-bservation:

As he was closing out his letter to the church at Thessaloniki, St. Paul implores them never to grow tired of doing good. Some had actually become busybodies and were lazy, and Paul addressed that too, but his great directive at the end was, “Please Don’t Get Tired Of Doing Good!”

A-pplication:

Last night, my wife and I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of a great Christian organization fundraiser that provides clean water for some of the world’s most desperate locations. To sit and listen, not just to the need worldwide but to also hear of this incredible organization’s never-ending worldwide operation to address the problem, made me think of this verse. I almost felt like the leader of this wonderful team must have at one point in his life read this one verse and said, “Lord, I promise you I will do everything I can to obey this admonition of the Apostle.” But none of us have to lead a worldwide organization to obey Jesus’ call. We only have to say, “Yes I promise,” when He reminds us, “Please Don’t Get Tired Of Doing Good!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m stirred up this AM as I read Paul’s admonishment to we the church. Once again, I want to say that with your help, I promise I will never get tired of doing good! Amen

Desiring Goodness Moving Forward In Faith!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Thessalonians 1:11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.

O-bservation:

St. Paul wanted the young church at Thessaloniki to know that he had them in his prayers. He desired that they would be worthy of the calling the Lord had placed on their life. Not only that, but he wanted their desires for goodness to become a reality in their lives, as well as all of their deeds to be motivated by faith.

A-pplication:

As I was reading this passage this AM, I had to stop and think to myself, “Are all of my desires, desires to be good and do good things? Are all of my deeds motivated by faith?” Remember, it was the same Apostle Paul who told the Roman Church that if it is not done in faith, it is done in sin (Rom. 14:23)! But I know I have selfish motives at times, and I know there are times when I’d like to “get back” at those who have harmed me. Yet Paul clearly states that he is praying for those people the exact opposite of what I sometimes do! What can we do then? Probably the best thing to do today and every day is to start your day with the prayer, “Jesus, I may not be perfect, but I’m starting my day with you, Desiring Goodness Moving Forward In Faith.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, As I said, I’m starting my day with You, “Desiring Goodness, Moving Forward In Faith!” Amen

Stand Firm AND Hold Fast

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

O-bservation:

In this chapter, St. Paul gives a stimulating discourse on the future “Man of Lawlessness” also known as the Anti-Christ. The Apostle speaks of a great delusion that will come upon people who have refused the truth. But to true “Followers Of Jesus,” Paul admonishes us all to, “Stand Firm AND Hold Fast!”

A-pplication:

No victory has ever been won when those, who in the fray of battle, decide to give up and quit! You can search through every category of human endeavor, and in each one there comes a point in time when the strong must decide to “Stand Firm AND Hold Fast!” For all “Followers Of Jesus” there will always be those occasions when the enemy of our souls will do everything in his power to discourage and dissuade us from our mission. However, like Job who said, “Though He slay me yet will I trust Him,” we too must decide in the heat of the battle to run deeper into the battle until we win the day. We triumph when, with the help of our great God, we decide to “Stand Firm AND Hold Fast!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM, I’m preparing to go deep into places where my mere human abilities fail me. Yet by the power of Your great Spirit I will “Stand Firm AND Hold Fast!” Amen
