Sweet Smelling

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Corinthians 2:15

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

O-bservation:

In this passage, Paul the Apostle spells out our position here on earth as “Followers of Jesus.” He says that because we are believers, we are like small or “Little Christs” to everyone we come in contact with. We literally smell good to our Father in Heaven because we bring strength and encouragement and comfort to those who are in the process of coming to Christ. AND … we also bring the “Hope of Salvation” to those who are perishing.

A-pplication:

As a loving heavenly Father, there are definitely times when our God has a sense of great pathos as he looks down upon the earth to see many of His children running away from Him and even cursing His name. Conversely, there are those of us who follow Christ with great joy and obedience. When He sees us, the scripture tells us that we become a “Sweet Smelling” aroma to Him. We are His emissaries here on earth. When He sees us it’s as if He leans back on His throne in heaven and breathes us in! I can almost hear our Heavenly Father saying … “They Smell Good!” Today let’s decide to be “Sweet Smelling” to our Savior.

P-rayer:

Today I determine with Your help to be Your emissary here on this side of heaven. I will walk the line to encourage those who are coming to You and lovingly preach love to those who are yet running from You. Let me be an aroma to You that is … “Sweet Smelling.” Amen
