How To Stop 3 Million People

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Numbers 12:15

So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

O-bservation:

Miriam, the sister of Moses, and her big brother Aaron did not like the woman Moses had married. Because of that, earlier in this chapter she spoke evil against her brother and the Lord God was infuriated at her. Because of her REBELLION against the man of God, the Lord struck her with Leprosy for seven days. She was required to stay outside the city until the Lord purified her. Consequently, all 3 million Israelites stopped moving forward while they waited on Moses’ sister to get well.

A-pplication:

It wasn’t a foreign army that stopped 3 million Israelites from moving forward. No! It was one woman’s rebellion that shut the entire nation down for 7 days. The Bible tells us that rebellion is like the sin of witchcraft. Think about it. Everyone knows that Moses and Miriam were brother and sister, but that’s where it started. Miriam wanted it to end there. However, there was more to Moses than a sibling rivalry or approval. He was God’s chosen man. In this case, whether she was happy with the way Moses had married or not, she should have respected the office he held. Rebellion impacts more folks than just the perpetrator. Rebellion can stop a nation from achieving God’s plan and purpose. Imagine what it can do to a family or a community or a church. Determine to follow, and yield to, God’s established authority in your life. If they’re wrong, God will move them out.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me today to yield to Your established authority in my life. I don’t want to be the cause of slowing anyone up from Your call and purpose for their lives. Amen
