So What’s New?

S. O. A. P

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 4:7

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

O-bservation:

The Apostle Peter, right at 2,000 years ago, wrote “The End is Near.” Consequently, every “Follower of Jesus” is commanded to live in an alerted state, with a serious mindset. Jesus himself had said earlier … “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him” (Matt. 24:44). This is generally the theme of the New Testament: “The End is Near, Be Ready!” After 2,000 years most believers, like me, hear this line and say … “So What’s New?”

A-pplication:

In no way is this a sarcastic statement. For 2,000 years, “Followers of Jesus” have lived with the thought that “The End Really Is Near.” Much data in the way of biblical signs coming to pass has been offered as proof. “The End Is Near ” theme has been the motivation for helping the poor worldwide for 2,000 years. Hospitals by the thousands have been built across the globe as well as centers of education and higher learning. Most of all there’s been an urgency to get the “Good News” out that Jesus is alive and loves you and is coming soon. “So What’s New?” … I’ll tell you what’s new … We’re 2,000 years closer to the end. You better pray and “Get ready!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me to live today in an alerted state, with a serious mind, to the fact that “The End Is Near.” I know that very soon You will return. I want to be ready. Amen
