Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 55:21
His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.
O-bservation:
Here we read King David’s lament over a close friend who turned out to be a “Smooth Talker.” Simply put, the man was a complete phony who had conned David into believing he could trust him. But instead, the King in time found him to be nothing more than a “Smooth Talker.”
A-pplication:
When was the last time someone mesmerized you with their “Smooth Talk,” only for you to find out later you had been conned? Words must be backed up with a life equal to the task. It’s one thing to talk a good game. But you and I both know talk can be cheap. People are looking for actions that prove one’s words are valuable. Anything less is just “Jive Talk” from a “Smooth Talker.” King David learned that the hard way.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM help me to always look past a person’s potential “Smooth Talk” to the content of their character and life. Amen
