S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
John 7:41
Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?”
O-bservation:
This is not the only place in the four Gospels where there was a “Division Of The House,” so to speak, concerning Jesus’ authenticity. Wherever Jesus went, as in this case, some said, “He is the Messiah,” and other’s said, “surely He is not the Messiah!” In this passage they questioned how the Messiah could come from such a humble place as Galilee.
A-pplication:
In Jesus’ day, other Jews spoke of Galileans as being somewhat uneducated farmers and fishermen. In fact, the Galileans had a certain dialect that was easily discerned by other Jewish people as being “Galilean.” That’s why they said there’s no chance a Prophet could come from Galilee (vs. 52). The point of this short devo this AM is to illustrate the apparent “Small Beginnings” of Jesus. In fact, Jesus was from a small city of Galilee called Nazareth. At one point in His ministry people questioned, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (Jn. 1:46). Perhaps God has placed “A Call” on your life and the enemy of your soul has kept hammering you with this question, “How could you possibly do anything for God, you come from nowhere?” But never forget, your Savior came from those same “Small Beginnings” to change the world.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I realize this AM that even though I come from “Small Beginnings” I serve a “BIG God!” Amen
