Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
John 6:48
I am the bread of life.
O-bservation:
Jesus was speaking to His disciples about Who it was they were actually following. After His discourse, His Disciples began to question Him and then argue with each other, and in time, some left Him (v. 66). Some of it, at the outset, sounded extremely alarming. He talked about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. Of course Jesus was referring to the commemoration of the “Last Supper” by Christians for all time. But at that time it was not yet experienced or understood. What Jesus was actually putting forth was the idea that “I am all you need.” Almost as if, “I am The Father’s personal appetite suppressant for the rest of your life. If you will ingest ALL that I’m offering you, ALL you will ever need, or desire, will be SATISFIED.”
A-pplication:
In my life, I’ve experienced several luxurious meals. The table has been spread with delicacies too numerous to tell. Before eating, I can recall being joyous with anticipation. I can remember having a conscious thought like, “I will never need to eat again. EVER!” Sure enough, however, the next morning I have awakened with the thought … “I wonder what’s for breakfast?” My appetite for food has been an ongoing, never ending experience for six decades. However, when it comes to THAT hunger for spiritual truth, for purpose, for destiny, and a knowledge that “I’m in God’s Will,” Jesus likens Himself to BREAD. “This BREAD,” He said, “Will completely suppress THIS hunger forever.” In fact, once you decide to “Follow Jesus,” you will experience … “A Satisfied Appetite.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I thank You this AM, that ALL of my desires mentioned above have been satisfied in my life because of YOU. My Bread of Life. Amen
