S-cripture:

1 Peter 2:15

For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

O-bservation:

I love this instruction from St. Peter, one of Jesus’ closest friends while He walked this earth. Peter said that as “Followers of Jesus” we are called to live out before a watching world the GOOD LIFE Jesus taught and showed us. In fact it is God’s will that we do this. When we obey the Lord in this manner, we silence the ridiculous talk offered by ignorant people.

A-pplication:

The amazing part of this passage is where St. Peter calls anyone who objects to the life and message we live and preach a … “Dummy.” That’s a more youthful and contemporary way of expressing the word ignorant. The Life and Message we offer is one of SERVICE. I’ve always said that Servant Leadership means YOU set the agenda. The Servant Leader serves his or her way in and out of impossible and fantastic situations. SERVICE is a “Door Opener.” People can curse you, hurt you, offend you, and even do bodily harm to you; however, when your response is “How Can I Help You” they have NO WORDS to say! Doing good is all about serving the needs of others, even though you may not have been asked. If someone has spoken evil about you on the down low, and you respond by “Doing Good,” it locks their lips. It may seem strange that when you SERVE those who despitefully use you, it gives you “The Power To Silence … DUMMIES!”

Dear Jesus,

I ask this AM that You would help me, through SERVICE, to silence all the “DUMMIES ” I encounter today and every day! Amen
