Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Hebrews 13:16
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
O-bservation:
In this last chapter of the Book of Hebrews, the writer gives us the formula for “Pleasing God.” Here it is: Do good and share with others. That’s it. God sees doing good and sharing with others as a sacrifice that we make. The author acknowledges that it is so much easier to do bad and not share with others. But if we’re willing to make these sacrifices, God will be pleased.
A-pplication:
I often hear people say, “I don’t know what God wants me to do right now, even though I have prayed and asked Him many times.” But that statement is erroneous. The reason I say that is because our loving Jesus has written the entire Bible to tell us what to do, how to do it, and when to do it—right now. There is a written answer to every decision you need to make in the Bible. Attitudes, giftings, work, how to find work, motivations, friends, wealth, poverty, good health, future, planning for the future, finding the right spouse, children, and raising children. All of these questions and more are dealt with in the Bible. However, if you’re still wondering about “Pleasing God” right now, just “DO GOOD” and “SHARE WITH OTHERS.” That’s a great start!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I have earnestly sought to please You in my life. Today I will begin anew by Doing Good and Sharing With Others. Amen
