Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Corinthians 10:12
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
O-bservation:
In the scripture leading up to this verse, St. Paul describes how the forefathers of Israel would experience victorious living, and then without even realizing it would fall back into a messy rebellious situation against “The Almighty.” The Apostle warned the “Jesus Followers” in Corinth that even when they think they’re standing strong, they should “Be Careful” lest they fall prey to the enemy’s temptation.
A-pplication:
This verse resonates with me to … “Please Be Careful!” St. Peter warned us to “Be on guard because your enemy (the devil) prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for people to devour” (paraphrase). In other words, we as “Followers of Jesus” must always be armed for battle. We’re up against an unseen force that wants to take us out. Any season of potential “Spiritual Holiday” or “Lackadaisical Living” must be put aside. The spiritual battlefield of life is strewn with lives who started strong and, because victory followed, assumed there would always be “Smooth Sailing.” But, alas! That roaring lion took them down while they were celebrating victory. Our God is greater, yet He still warns each of us this AM … “Please Be Careful.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m asking you to surround me and empower me this AM! With Your help I will be careful, but I must have YOU! Amen
