Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 John 5:4
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
O-bservation:
The Apostle John is speaking here of the “New Birth” found only in Jesus. He says once you have been born again you become an “Overcomer” of the world and all the world has to offer the Believer. The real victory after salvation is a gift from the Lord, and it’s called faith.
A-pplication:
All of us were granted a “Measure of Faith” at birth (Rom. 12:3). You have to have faith when you sit on a chair: that the molecular structure of the chair will hold together and your weight won’t split it. But that’s not the kind of faith being spoken of in this passage. What John is talking about is an “Overcoming Faith.” The kind of faith that moves mountains that seem impenetrable. The kind of faith that destroys cancer and raises a man or woman out of a wheelchair. “Overcoming Faith” doesn’t give up until the Prodigal Son or Daughter is back home safe and secure. I guess you could say that “Overcoming Faith” is a step above common faith. Each time “Overcoming Faith” is engaged, it elevates us to another level of Believing for the next impossibility. The day we were “Born Again,” we inherited Eternal Life and the gift of “Overcoming Faith.” But, it only works when we engage it!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help today, I will engage my gift of “Overcoming Faith.” Just give me an opportunity and I’m on it! Amen
