Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Leviticus 26:13
Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the Lord your God.
O-bservation:
Here we see God Almighty reminding the Children of Israel of His great deliverance of them from the chains of Egyptian slavery. He reminds them that because of His loving kindness they are “No Longer Slaves,” but can now walk with their heads held high.
A-pplication:
Pictures of prisoners from past wars, both men and women, are appalling. The movies that remind us of humans throughout the ages subjected to slavery are heart rending. In every picture, you will see men and women with their heads bowed low. I’ve walked through hospitals to visit people who were only days from eternity. The one thing that seems common is a bowed head. The power of this passage is not only for the people of Israel, who had been delivered from their chains of slavery. It’s also for all of us who follow Jesus in these present times. Before an individual follows Jesus as Lord, they are bowed low by the chains of their own decisions. The player, the addict, the thief, all of them have one thing in common. They have fallen prey to chains that now hold them in bondage. However, when Jesus comes in and when Jesus becomes Lord the chains of bondage are broken off, and then the bowed head is raised high. Because when Jesus sets us free, we are … “No Longer Slaves.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You that many years ago You broke the chains of sin from off my back. Because of that, I am no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God. Amen
