Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Galatians 5:7
You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?
O-bservation:
Paul the Apostle was speaking to young “Jesus Followers” in Galatia who had started strong in their newfound “Faith Race” in Jesus. But after a brilliant beginning, old friends and acquaintances had stepped in to drag them away from Jesus and back to their old traditions. Paul asked them, “Who did this to you?”
A-pplication:
We’ve all watched a 400 meter race where a certain runner is running strong at a good pace, then out of nowhere someone stretches ahead and “Cuts In” on the runner for an inside position. As soon as it happens, usually the one who was “Cut In” on falls back after being thrown off their stride. As a little boy, we’d be standing in line at the lunch counter in elementary and a “Big Bully” would come from the back and “Cut In” at the front of the line and all of the children would scream “No Cuts!” The teacher would come and pull the Bully back to the back. When it comes to our faith, the Apostle Paul instructed us to keep going and finish the race. Don’t let anyone cut you off. Don’t let anyone force you back into the old paths of selfishness, rejection, self pity, religion, lust, laziness, and fear. No! You have started a good race with Jesus as your “FINISH LINE” and the Holy Spirit as your “ENABLER.” The moment someone tries to throw you off your stride, keep going and yell … “No Cuts!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM my eyes are fixed on You. You are my goal. With Your help, no one will “Cut In” on me. Amen
