Never Alone
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Genesis 2:18
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
O-bservation:
Here the writer of Genesis recounts how marriage came to be. He says that God saw that man (the first man Adam) was alone, and then God said, “It’s not good that man should be alone. I’ll create a helper for him.” This original helper was the first woman, Eve. This became the first marriage in history.
A-pplication:
The BIG issue here is that God doesn’t want man or woman to be alone in the world. Aloneness can create a conspiracy theory in a person’s life. We begin to think someone or something is coming against us when in fact, it’s just that we’re alone and have no one to bounce the idea off of. Originally God created a woman to stand with a man in marriage. However, many folks never enter marriage, and even when they do, it doesn’t always work out. Others never find a real friend they can relate to and share their challenges with. But on this first day of a brand new year, I want you always to remember that you are never alone when you are a “Jesus Follower.” It was Jesus Himself who said to His disciples before He ascended back to the Father, “And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Matt. 28:20a). Remember when there’s no one, there’s always someone named Jesus who is waiting for you and me to pray. When we pray, we are “Never Alone!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, on this first day of a brand new year, the very fact that I am praying proves that I am “Never Alone.” You have always been with me, and I know this new year will be the best yet. Amen
