My Designated Place

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Numbers 1:1a

The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Desert of Sinai.

O-bservation:

The tent of meeting was the designated place where Moses would regularly go to commune with The Lord. The people of Israel knew it, his family knew it, and now thousands of years later we know that the tent of meeting is where Moses would go to speak with The Lord.

A-pplication:

Through the years I’ve always had a designated place where I’ve daily prayed and sought the Lord. I remember while I was on the road for 18 years it was a hotel room somewhere in the world. Each week I traveled to preach somewhere, and as soon as I got into the hotel I’d set it up for the next four days. Part of the set up was a place of prayer. When we moved to Miami years ago I had a place upstairs, but then the kids began to move out and I’ve found the kitchen table as “My Designated Place.” When I’m at that table, Robyn knows that I’m studying and/or praying. I don’t think it has a thing to do with the fact that I’m a pastor. I believe it’s all about the fact that I’m a “Follower Of Jesus.” Every individual who really loves Jesus needs a place to call “My Designated Place.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m thankful this AM that I have a designated place to call upon Your name. Without a daily place to speak with You, I find my relationship becomes mechanical and ho-hum. Thankfully that’s not the case, because I have a place. Amen
