My DAD Took This Literally!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 44:28

I am to be the only inheritance the priests have. You are to give them no possession in Israel; I will be their possession.

O-bservation:

Here we see the Lord stating that the priests, who would have been of the Levite tribe, were to own nothing. The Lord said, “I (speaking of Himself) will be their inheritance.” In other words … “God will provide.”

A-pplication:

I cannot tell you how many times I heard this as a boy growing up in my father’s home. When it comes to this particular passage, “My DAD Took This Literally!” My mom and dad never owned a home of their own until I was out of the house. We always lived in a home the church provided for the minister. When my parents moved to a small church on the Monterey peninsula in California, the church did not own a house. My grandmother, the widow of a minister, had become very successful as a real estate sales person after granddad died. She put up the down payment for my parents to buy a home. Whenever there was a shortage of anything, dad would say, “Rich, the Lord will provide.” He truly leaned on Jesus as his inheritance. When Robyn and I needed help to buy a home in California a hundred years ago, mom and dad loaned us the money for a down payment. We Wilkerson’s have been living on the Lord’s inheritance all of our lives. I can honestly say, I’m so glad “My DAD Took This Literally.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so glad today that YOU Are My Inheritance! Amen
