Mind Wars

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 13:2a

How long must I wrestle with my thoughts?

O-bservation:

Obviously David was a mighty warrior, but as a psalmist and poet he was also a “creative melancholy.” Right here he asked the Almighty, “Am I going to face ‘Mind Wars’ forever?”

A-pplication:

What King David voices in this question reverberates in all of us. You can act and appear to be the most righteous person on the face of the earth, but we all know the “BATTLE” has always been for The Mind. It began in the Garden if Eden, when the serpent said to Eve, “Did God really say that?” (Gen. 3:1, paraphrase). BOOM! The war was on. All of us are susceptible to the enemy’s attack on our thought life. After all, that is where all ideas are conceived. That’s why David’s son, Solomon, said, “Guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life” (Prov. 4:23). The HEART here can be compared to one’s moral consciousness and mind. Guard it with all diligence. Our thoughts will yield to the continual nourishment of God’s Word and prayer if we’ll keep feeding it those ingredients. That’s the only way to conquer … “Mind Wars.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me win my “Mind Wars” today! Amen
