Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 1:66

Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.

O-bservation:

This verse is speaking of Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist. At his birth, so many unusual signs from heaven appeared that people knew the Lord’s hand was with him. Let’s start by saying that he was the only child born to his elderly parents. That in itself was miraculous. This led people to question what this anointed little boy would become.

A-pplication:

Here we are at the dawn of another new year. This past year in the annals of world history will go down as the year of the pandemic. But on New Year’s Day, hope always springs eternal. Whatever this new year may bring, there is one thing that believers everywhere hope for. We believe for and pray that the Lord’s hand will be upon us. You can do a lot on your own, but there’s only so much you and I can do on our own. That’s where the need for Jesus really comes into view. In fact, without the Lord, what can we do? Many years ago, I read a book by Dr. Francis Schaeffer, and he posed the question, “What would happen if tomorrow the Holy Spirit was taken out of the world?” He then went on to say that for many, life would go on as usual because they had learned to go through the motions of religious activity. But Dr. Schaeffer said humbly, “For me, I think I would physically die. I have so come to rely on the Lord that I would die if He was gone.” I believe humbly that I must say the same thing. With that in mind, “May The Lord’s Hand Be With You!”

Dear Jesus,

On this New Year’s Day, I’m reminded of the song, “I need thee oh I need thee. Every hour I need thee. Oh, bless me now, my savior. I come to thee.” Please lay your hand upon me again today. Amen
