S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 14:10
But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.
O-bservation:
This was Jesus’ approach from the day He began His public ministry. Taking “The Lowest Place” is always the way of the “Servant Leader.” This was foundational to the life and teachings of Christ. He said, “When you’re invited to a party sit in the back, that way if the host sees you and wants to be near you he can call you up front.”
A-pplication:
When you start from “The Lowest Place,” there’s only one way to go. To a better place than where you started from. It’s the way to always finish a day with a sense of success. Oftentimes, I’ve seen someone with no invitation try and appear as though they were entitled to a certain position, only to see them asked to leave the event. A look of shame immediately sweeps their countenance. Jesus never intended for anyone to feel shame or be shamed. When we, His followers, choose His way, HUMILITY is foundational. With humility as a starting place, it is difficult to be offended. With humility as a starting place, depression can’t take root. With humility as a starting place, pride has no home. Sometimes you just have to stop and see the Jesus point of view. When you do, it’s immediately apparent that the best choice is always … “The Lowest Place.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I want to stop and gave this my full attention. Once again, Your view is the best view. Today I am choosing “The Lowest Place” as the place I will start my day. It’s gotta start getting better the minute I leave the house! Amen
Comment (1)
Amen! I truly always will remember to start at the lowest place and stay humble knowing Jesus is center of my life no matter where I am.
Thank you very much Pastor Rich for devotionals.
God bless you richly every day and your family.
Sincerely,
