Love Your Leader

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Exodus 17:12

When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

This is the story of the Children of Israel waging their first battle against the Amalekites after they came out of Egypt. Moses had told Joshua to choose men from Israel and fight them. He said he would stand at the top of the hill with God’s staff in his hands. The next day Moses raised his hands to the Lord, and the Israelites were strong on the attack until Moses’ hands grew weary. When his hands came down, the Amalekites would be the aggressors. Finally, Aaron and Hur placed a large stone under Moses for him to sit on, and they raised his hands for him. Joshua won the battle because two men held their leader’s hands to heaven.

Every leader, especially spiritual leaders, has a capacity to direct a team of whatever description. I say especially spiritual leaders because those men and women have an added blessing inasmuch as they are anointed of God for the task assigned to them. But even spiritual leaders grow weary and tired. It’s in those times when they need someone to show them love by coming around them and assisting them until their strength returns. In this case, Moses needed his hands raised towards the Lord, but he grew weary. Instead of walking away, two men decided to “Love Their Leader” enough to assist him. Because they did, their entire nation experienced victory. Maybe the way for you to experience more victory than you’ve ever known is to “Love Your Leader” and help hold their hands up.

Dear Jesus,

Lord, this AM I pray that You would help me to “Hold My Leader’s” hands up. I never want to be the one who walks away. Amen
