Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 6:1a

Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.

O-bservation:

During His “Sermon On The Mount,” Jesus said, “Don’t practice your righteousness in front of others so they can observe the act.” In other words, “Lose The Religion.”

A-pplication:

Any outward show, that is a show of righteousness to be seen by others, is really a religious act. Jesus always viewed religion as something that separated people from, not drew people to, GOD. He preached against and railed against the religious acts of the Pharisees in His day. On one occasion, Jesus told the Pharisees, “You’re so hypocritical that you look like whitewashed sepulchers filled with dead men’s bones!” (Matt. 23:27, paraphrase). That show of phony Righteousness that smacks of religious pride is condemned by Jesus. Jesus detested it THEN, and He detests it NOW! If this is a battle for you, simply obey the Lord this AM and “Lose The Religion.”

Dear Jesus,

Help me this AM to “Lose The Religion” and fully trust You as my sole source of strength. With You, I can do all things! Amen
