Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Samuel 20:4
Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do for you.”
O-bservation:
David, prior to becoming King of Israel, was regularly running for his life from King Saul. Saul’s son Jonathon was David’s best friend. They had such a “Friendship” that Jonathon said to David, “I’m willing to do whatever it is you need me to do.”
A-pplication:
Everywhere I go I find young adults in need of “Friendship.” It’s not that they’re weak at finding friends, it’s that they don’t trust anyone. Here were two young men on opposite ends of life and experience. One was a King’s son who was being deposed by God from his position, and the other was the man God had chosen to take his place. Perhaps never before in history were there two men more destined to hate each other, who instead found the common bond of Friendship. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, instead of finding reasons to find fault with each other, we could start by saying, “Whatever you need me to do for you, I’ll do it.” Those words are a bridge to any “Friendship.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I have NO friend like You. So this AM let me start my day by saying, “Whatever You need me to do, I’ll do for You today.” Amen
