THE LORD IS THERE

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 48:35

“The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”

O-bservation:

The last verse of the book of Ezekiel speaks of a city whose name is: “The Lord Is There.” The last several chapters of the Book of Ezekiel sound a lot like the final two chapters of the Book of Revelation. 18,000 cubits created a city so big his audience couldn’t really imagine it! Yes, the Prophet Ezekiel is speaking of the eternal City of God. But prior to heaven, he is also speaking of an organic city here on earth.

A-pplication:

Yes, Ezekiel was speaking about the future state of heaven, but I also believe he was speaking of the church that would one day come. Presently there are 2 billion “Followers of Jesus” in the world. Throughout history, there have probably been another 1.5 billion “Followers of Christ.” When this prophecy was given, that number was probably too numerous to count. Here’s the idea … when Ezekiel spoke of the city that has a circumference larger than any city his people had seen, he couldn’t have been speaking of space alone, he had to be speaking of something too numerous to count. And … that is the nature of the CHURCH. It grows 24 hours a day in good times and bad times, persecution times and war times, and in prosperous times and lean times. And everywhere it grows, in every tribe and nation and language, people agree … “The Lord Is There.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m reminded this AM that I AM YOUR CHURCH. I am thankful that You, My Lord are in me! When people see me it is my hope that they would say … “The Lord Is There.” Amen
