Just Believe

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Romans 3:22a
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
O-bservation:
St. Paul spoke of a righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. He said earlier that it was a righteousness separate from the law. The prerequisite for this righteous was simply, “Just Believe.”
A-pplication:
There’s a huge challenge in this simple verse. It says to be justified and made righteous in the sight of God, the individual has to “Just Believe.” But here’s our dilemma. We are all programmed to have “to do” something for our salvation. Certainly, the Catholic Church believes in penance. Many of us in the rest of the Christian world have our “to do” list as well. If we’re not careful, we tend to judge others’ “to do” lists up against our own. When “THEY” don’t match up, we judge them as not being righteous like “WE ARE” based upon the “LIST” we’re trying to keep. The truth is, Jesus died and resurrected to do away with all the lists. He says if we’ll “Just Believe” in His atonement for our sin, we will be saved and justified at that moment. Of course, we’re not going to deny that God’s laws are evident today, but we know that we get His approval when we “Just Believe.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
It’s hard for some of us to “Just Believe” and let You do the rest for us when it comes to our salvation through faith. But I’m learning day by day, that’s the only way. Amen
