Just Avoid It
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Thessalonians 5:22
Reject every kind of evil.
O-bservation:
These are the words that St. Paul closed his first letter to the Church at Thessalonica with. They had gotten in trouble because they had quit their jobs and spent their days watching and waiting for Jesus to return. Because of this, they had become busybodies and had fallen into sin because they had nothing to do. So Paul was saying, when it comes to any kind of evil, “Just Avoid It.”
A-pplication:
Have you ever been without work for any period, and before you know it, you’re looking into other people’s business? Once a person is known as a busybody, they tend to get involved in stuff that isn’t becoming to the child of God. Paul said to avoid every kind of evil. Don’t go near it. Don’t try to work around it. Don’t talk to people who are wanting you to get involved. “Just Avoid It.” Why? Because evil brings people down. Once you start down that road, it’s difficult to exit without losing too much! Perhaps you have friends who got off of the gospel trail towards heaven and took a side road towards pleasure, which was just a smokescreen for pain. Once again, the Word of God is saying it, and I’m just repeating what the word says when it comes to any kind of evil. “Just Avoid It!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m totally read to avoid any kind of evil. But for me to be successful, I need the power of the Holy Spirit to help me get over this kind of evil temptation. I’m asking You to send the Holy Spirit to lead me out of temptation and into your safe harbor. Amen
